“Shower Outage” (Official music video)

The Music of Hello Uncle Foreigner

Music from the video “How to: Shower in China - When the water goes out.”

This original composition is actually one of our first pieces of music that is actually scored to a scene — in that the timing of the music was written to follow and enhance the action in the video, “How to: Shower in China.” It’s a fun, upbeat piece that really makes the farce we were going for in that video pop.

“Watch it!” (Official music video)

The Music of Hello Uncle Foreigner

Listen to all the music of Hello Uncle Foreigner at Western Toilet.

“Watch it” was a short segment conceived for the video “Why do I live in China? What are you doing?” and is basically footage of traffic with the word “watch it” standing in for car horn noises. We thought it was funny. I like the driving beat of this composition and how it gives intensity to some imagery that’s pretty quotidian. We’ve all seen traffic.

The music video for the soundtrack to the video “I can’t put my shoes on any faster.” Peter was inspired by the subject matter to write a kind of march for the soundtrack, and we had this footage from the Tianfu Middle School sports meeting that took place our very first year teaching. It was 2012, so in honor of that years Olympics, the kids had their own Parade of Nations. And it was Luzhou, so of course it was kind of raining the whole time. But we were all there to have fun!
